## About the role

Amity Foundation — Employment Services, COYA Program

Los Angeles, CA

Full-Time | Non-Exempt | $22–$25/hour, depending on experience

Amity Foundation is hiring a Case Manager for the California Opportunity Youth Apprenticeship (COYA) program, serving youth ages 18–24 with justice involvement, foster care experience, or other significant barriers. This role prepares participants for careers in the substance use disorder field and connects them to apprenticeship opportunities.

You will conduct intake assessments, build individualized case plans, and coordinate closely with community colleges, mentors, and partner agencies to support each participant's transition into employment or further education.

**What You Will Do**

**Participant Support & Mentoring**

- Conduct comprehensive intake assessments for assigned participants, identifying strengths, needs, and barriers.

- Develop, review, and regularly update Individual Development Plans (IDPs) focused on substance use disorder education, employment, and supportive services.

- Provide personalized mentoring, including weekly one-on-one and group sessions on soft skills, motivational interviewing, problem-solving, crisis management, and trauma-informed care.

- Support participants in building employment skills, preparing résumés, practicing interview techniques, and securing job placements.

- Facilitate enrollment in educational programs and assist with financial aid applications when applicable.

- Engage with participants' families or caregivers to support a holistic approach to development and employment sustainability.

**Partnerships & Program Coordination**

- Coordinate closely with Cuesta College, East Los Angeles College, and other community-based organizations.

- Monitor participant progress and regularly coordinate with community-based organizations.

- Review participant outcome data with the Associate Director of Employment Services to make timely program adjustments.

- Participate in community-building events, stakeholder meetings, workshops, and relevant training.

- Serve as a community advocate as requested by program leadership.

- Make appropriate referrals to external agencies for additional support services as necessary.

**Documentation & Administration**

- Document all progress, services, and employment outcomes in participant files and online case management system such as the Apricot data system.

- Maintain comprehensive case records and accurate statistical data, ensuring documentation meets all compliance requirements.

- Regularly report on case insights and track participant performance.

**What We Are Looking For**

**Required:**

- Bachelor's degree in Social Sciences, Youth Development, Rehabilitation Counseling, Workforce Development, or a related field — OR

- A High school diploma/equivalent plus two or more years of experience working with justice-involved youth, individuals with disabilities, or related populations.

- Valid California driver's license and eligibility for Amity vehicle insurance.

**Preferred:**

- Experience providing case management services within juvenile justice or rehabilitation settings.

- Certification in motivational interviewing or trauma-informed care practices.

**Skills & Abilities**

This role calls for someone comfortable moving between mentorship, data tracking, and cross-sector coordination. Therefore, the candidate should have:

- Understanding of the causes, symptoms, and effects of long-term incarceration, with appreciation for how it affects behavior, psychology, and social wellbeing.

- Recognition of how personality, culture, lifestyle, and social network shape individual behavior.

- Operational knowledge of MS Office.

- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively across a wide range of constituencies.

- Strong case and project management skills, with the ability to maintain confidential information

**Certifications & Conditions of Employment**

- As a condition for employment, a job offer is contingent upon completing First Aid training, CPR certification, physical examination including tuberculosis clearance before confirmation.

- As a condition of employment, a job offer is not binding on Amity until Amity, the LA County Probation Department, and the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation (CDCR) obtain satisfactory results from a background investigation.

**Work Environment**
